How Time Flies---

---whether you are having fun, or not!

So much going on in life, that stitching has really taken a back seat, but I finally scrabbled together enough for a post.

Last post I showed a little double 9-patch block I had made using the Itty Bitty Eights ruler. Now it has a purpose. I made it into a pincushion, which finishes at 2 3/4" square.
Love that little Temecula box. It was part of a sweet Christmas gift from Sandi (kwiltnkats blog).

The Attic Heirlooms Ornament of the Month will soon be posting #6, and I have barely finished #4.
As I have said before, I am making mine into a little Christmas quilt, rather than individual ornaments.
Do you get an idea as to why I usually avoid BOM projects? When I start falling behind I get discouraged and often drop out. And believe me, I ALWAYS fall behind. : )

The Buttermilk Basin Mystery BOM just posted block #5, and I just finished #4 on this one, as well.
I like to add my own little touches to these blocks, when I can think of them. I added the strawberry to the pincushion, the button to the scissors, and stitched a couple of pins onto the cushion, with beads for pin heads.

This shows the four blocks together. I love Stacy's designs and hope I can keep up, or I should say get caught up and stay there. : )

I want to show this tiny ladder I found in a thrift store. I have no idea what it was meant to be, but I brought it home and filled it with little quilts. It sits beside a small trunk where I keep seasonal children's books for the grandkids.
It is just over 2' tall. So fun.

One last thing--May 11th was my 4 year blog anniversary, so I am having a little giveaway for my faithful followers. So many of you have truly become friends and I am enriched by associations with quilters from around the world! When I began this little blog I never dreamed I would become well acquainted with such delightful people, from widely varied backgrounds. My life is definitely better for knowing you!
I've included one item for each year I have been blogging. There is a little 2 1/2" square Creative Grid ruler, Betsy Chutchian's book "Gone to Texas", my little quilt I named "True" that was made from the leftovers of "Faithful", one of Lori's (Humble Quilts blog) little SAL quilts. And finally, the pincushion I made from the double 9-patch block is item #4. Random stuff, I know, and I may tuck in another giftie or two.

The giveaway will be closed at midnight MST on Saturday.
I am flying to NH on Monday to spend a week spoiling new grandbaby #5, so there is a possibility the prize will not be sent out until I return, but I will try to send it Monday before I leave, if the winner gets back to me quickly with their address.
So leave a comment if any of this appeals to you. : )

Giveaway now closed.

Until next time,
Janet O.

I would love to enter the draw, but I already have the Gone to Texas book, so if I am drawn, you can send the book to someone else. I love the other items! Congratulations on the new grand baby! 6. It is only recently that I found your blog. Love all your works in progress, especially Stacy's BOM which I am also doing, although I am a bit behind on this one. The little pincushion is so cute. I have the new ruler but haven't had time to use it. Small blocks are my favorite. Enjoy your visit with your grand baby, they are so much fun. I happily give up quilting time to spend time with my grandchildren. Things will get done eventually.

  7. I wonder if the ladder was from a bunk bed set? It is just perfect for your little quilts. I don't/can't do BOM....I get behind and lose interest then, so I marvel at those who stick with it. I do love your additions to the blocks....like the snowgirl, and the bee hive it just so cute. enjoy your trip and the new grand baby. And congrats on the blog anniversary, too.

  17. Congratulations on the new grandbaby! I'm glad you're able to go get some snuggles. Nothing better than snuggling a grandbaby!

I just used my Itty Bitty Eights ruler last night - first time. Not to make a mini quilt, but because the instructions require pieces such as 2-3/8" square and 2-3/8"x4-1/4". Can you imagine trying to cut those pieces with a standard ruler? I couldn't either. ;-)

I love my little Temecula ruler box ... mine was a Christmas gift from my daughter and her family. <3

When I log into my reader, the first blog I look for is yours. I definitely miss you when life interferes with blogging.

  19. I was going to tell you how much I like the pin cushion you made and then I read down further where you are giving it away along with a bunch of other goodies.
The reason I have trouble keeping up with block of the months is that I have to wait for the next pattern to come out. By then, something else has caught my eye and I am off on another project.

  20. Wow--I love your tiny pincushion! I have the ruler box and I may have to steal your idea--love it. You have so many cute projects--I'm a little behind on a few BOM's too. Oh well, it's all for fun!

  21. Looks to me like you are doing a great job keeping up with all your BOM projects. That little ladder and tiny pin cushion are just too cute

  22. Blocks of the Month means you have to make ONE blocks each month. It seems so little. Tiny Blocks and ones that require lots of handwork thwart that plan. I'm amazed that you have only been Blogging 4 years. Glad I found your fun Blog and got to meet you in person! Happy Blog-o-versary!

  23. Congratulations on your new little grandbaby!! How wonderful you will be able to go and see the baby. And congratulations your blogging anniversary! I love the projects you have been working on. To me it looks like you are keeping up really well! I joined one, missed getting the first one done and never tried to get caught up. My plan now is to make them all at the same time once I have them all.

  24. Congratulations on both the new grandbaby and the blog anniversary. I'm a new follower and I'm so glad I found you. Your mini's are really good. I'm looking to get my hands on those new rulers for sure.

  28. Happy 4th blogging anniversary! I love following your blog, all of your projects are wonderful. The little pin cushion is adorable! The ladder is a wonderful find, wish I could come across such great finds. I am good at collecting the patterns for BOM's but have to find time to actually make them. Thanks for a chance to win in your giveaway. Have a fun trip to meet that new grandbaby!

  29. Happy blogaversary! I'm always so glad that I found your blog ... and made such a sweet friend. Have a wonderful time in NH with your daughter and the new grandbaby. Too bad they don't live closer. As much as I would love to have your little quilting projects, please don't add my name to the giveaway ... I have the ruler and the book so one less name will add to everyone else's odds. Just wanted to say 'hi' and tell you that it's always great to see your new projects. Might the little ladder have been used to dry noodles?

I really love your idea of making a little quilt, instead of the ornaments. I made the first one, and haven't done any since. Also haven't made any of Stacy's blocks, but I hope to some day! Have a great time spoiling that new baby!!

  47. Could that ladder have been from a toddler bed or bunk bed? I would have snatched that up too...had I had time to get to the thrift store. LOL! As always, I pop in here and get excited to see your PRETTIES. I'm amazed at the size you can make your minis and then to see that sweet pincushion. I'm also envious you have a new grand...enjoy!!!!

  49. I have half of an old antique wooden ladder and I use it to display lap size quilts. They fit on there so nicely and almost make the ladder disappear. What a great find to find a nice small one! I have displayed some mini on an upright antique magazine rack. Consignment shops are hidden gold mines!
