This little quilt has been waiting a long time for completion. It is from a SAL on the quiltsbycheri blog from way back in January of 2013. Cheri called it Simply Sweet. Mine is much darker than the original and I haven't yet thought of a name.
These two photos show more of the quilting from the front and the back. Love the texture.
Are you making "Tucker" from Pam Buda's recent SAL? Haven't sewn the outer round of blocks together, but I am pretty sure I will finish it that way.
As I shared a couple of posts back, I got the layout wrong on my first section, and was not in the mood to unpick. I waited for the reveal on Friday and then worked with the parts Pam used to come up with something that I felt worked with my design-challenged creation. It will probably finish at 12" square.
This beautiful bundle of Miniature Gatherings fabrics from Primitive Gatherings, and their fun little book of mini quilts recently came to live at my house. So I got out the Itty Bitty Eights rulers, polished them up, and now I am ready to tackle some new minis. But, alas, it will probably have to wait until after the holidays. Have a few gifts to get stitched first!
That's all for now.
Until next time,
Janet O.
Wow!! Fun, fun, fun!! Great finish!! It will be exciting to see the itty bitty quilts you make with that FQ BunDle!!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt you finished. I am very jealous of your FQ Bundle, book and rulers and looking forward to the new year when you've had time to finish one or more!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful doll quilt Janet, with an awesome quilting as usual !
ReplyDeleteYou ordered beautiful fabrics too !
I wish you a nice Sunday !
Your wonderful quilting definitely brought mini SAL to life. I can't believe all the different fabrics you used to make a 12" block. Wow! That lovely bundle of fabric and new book will be tempting you. Can't wait to see what you're planning.
ReplyDeleteLove that little quilt! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little SAL. And that FQ bundle ... oh my, yum! They're going to make some fabulous little minis!
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilting on Simply Sweet, perfect detail for it! I love the direction your Tucker is headed in! I'm glad Pam's final reveal and the inspiration she worked from actually encourages everyone to take theirs in whatever direction we choose. Too often we forget that's always an option even when you start with a pattern or plan.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is adorable and I love your quilting too. I've been working on some Christmas gifts as well, so have fun with that!
ReplyDeleteLove them both!! You made the little "tucker" perfectly and it won't be like everyone elses.
ReplyDeleteI love your little quilts so much, that I just ordered the Primitive Gatherings book. But like you I will probably have to wait until after the holidays to make a quilt from the book.
ReplyDeleteYour Tucker is so very creative, how like you to find a lovely way to redesign it! As always, your fabric selections are wonderful.
ReplyDeletewonderful little quilts!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting on the SAL is creative and lovely. Thanks for showing both the front and the back to help us see the designs well.
ReplyDeleteAs our LQS owner always told us at classes, "mistakes" when we're quilting are just "design opportunities." Your Tucker is sweet as can be and one of a kind. That is definitely a large number of fabrics in a small space.
Love your little quilt, such gorgeous quilting, thanks for showing the back. I think I am going to have to order that book for myself, its the second time I have seen it this morning on someone's blog, I am taking that as a sign it needs to also live at my house!!
ReplyDeleteWell, you certainly put your own spin on Pam's quilt, huh? It's way cute! I love 4-patches as much as 9-patches, so your little SAL really got my attention. That new book looks like a good one, and the fabrics look DELISH!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting on Cheri's SAL quilt is just amazing. I love what you did with the Tucker sew along. I think you ended up with a charming little quilt! Looks like we will be seeing some more wonderful little quilts in the future.
ReplyDeleteWhat scrumptious quilting you've done on your pretty little unnamed piece!! Nice little package from Primitive Gatherings, too!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilting on the SAL is just beautiful!! And when viewed from the back, you have a lovely wholecloth quilt!!
ReplyDeleteDid you use THAT RED in your little quilt? Super cute! And don't you just LOVE that bundle of fabric? It is my favorite line of Lisa's so far. I don't have her new book yet, but I'm sure I will give in and buy it one of these days!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and quilting. Haven't purchased Little Gatherings (yet) love the fabrics
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that mini! Can't wait to see what you do with that gorgeous FQ bundle!!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilting on Simply Sweet--wonderful texture! I couldn't resist that bundle of fabric either--the colors are yummy!
ReplyDeleteLove your Tucker version!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that bundle... might have to get my own :)
Your version of Simply Sweet is gorgeous Mom! It is simply perfect...the colors, the quilting...everything!
ReplyDeleteTucker is coming right along! I haven't seen the finale on Pam's Blog yet. I like yours and Kathy's from Canada versions. Sew glad you played along!
ReplyDeleteThe quilting is wonderful. Do you mark quilting lines or just do it?
ReplyDeleteThe quilting on your mini is gorgeous! I didn't get a chance to sew along with Tucker, but I do like your version.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting as usual! Great save on your Tucker piece, it is definitely cohesive with the center. Yummy pile of fabrics there. Is there enough black in your stash to frame them all? :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little quilts, Janet! Look forward to seeing what you do with that bundle of fabric. What kind of gifts are you stitching?
ReplyDeletewow your quilting is absolutely stunning on your four patch. Just love it!!
ReplyDeletegreat sew along scrappy quilt.
You'll be working magic with that bundle of great little prints. Can't wait to see what you make first!
Hi Janet, your no name quilt is so nice, and the quilting is awesome, hard to believe that you can get all that fabulous quilting on one mini. Looking forward to seeing all the minis that you make out of that great bundle.
ReplyDeleteBe chatting with you again soon.
Oh my gosh yes! Your texture on your version of Simply Sweet is amazing!!!! You really took a very simple quilt design and gave it such movement - love it!!! And I know you are going to be showing us some wonderful tiny treasures with that fabric bundle in the new year - can't wait!!! I bought the square "eighths" ruler recently because you recommended it. I think I'd like to play with some tiny blocks in the coming year too :-)
ReplyDeleteSome how this post did not show up in my reader - saw it on another blog! So sorry!! Love every one!! Your quilting is always so perfect!!!! And your TUCKER is going to be wonderful!! I always love that you can put a different "twist" on SALs!! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs!
Seeing your dear mini's in the color palette you use always is like walking into a candy store! Don't you love those itty bitty rulers!! The extra markings really help to get an accurate finish on my little 9 patches which are huge compared to the scale you work with. When I grow up I want to try a mini like yours:-)
ReplyDeleteHappy stitching!
You do such lovely quilting on your little quilts. Great fabric bundle.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is beautiful. I am thinking you will wear your new book out!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning view! And such a sweet little box. I'd use it beside my chair to keep hand quilting notions. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could call your un-named quilt, "Dark Cherries", since it has blacks and reds prominently featured? It is beautiful!
