A Sweetheart of a Lamb

The latest in my Lamb for All Seasons, from Lisa Bongean's free pattern linked here (which I alter for the different seasons and holidays). I can't decide if I like the words on the blanket. Maybe that is just too corny. I think the blanket needs a border, too. I wanted to have this hanging before next weekend, but I may have to mull it over for a while and have it ready next year. : )

Not a lot of Valentiney (that's a word, right?) quilts at my house. I made this one a couple of years ago.
I had so much fun quilting this.

Then I made this in the "Simply Charming" Every Other Month SAL from Tara Lynn Darr's book. Was that really 2 years ago?
The photo of my grandkids is several years old, but it is still one of my favorites.

And this little quilt was my second interpretation of Lori's (Humble Quilts blog) Pink Lemonade SAL. I was just learning to machine quilt when I did this, so it is best viewed from a distance!

While making the Valentine lamb above I sewed these blocks together as my leader/enders.
Someday it will get simple quilting and a purple binding.

And this little guy got finished up. When I was sitting in my chair stitching the details I couldn't find the instruction sheet. I was too lazy to get up and look for it, or go to the computer and pull it up again, so I stitched from memory. (The background wool isn't really that blue.)
Some of it I knew was not like the original, but he turned out okay and has been gifted to a good home. This was from Attic Heirlooms January Ornament of the Month pattern.

The only snowmen in my neck of the woods right now are of the woolly variety.
We are having such a warm February that our night time lows are higher than our normal daily highs for this time of the year. We were in the 60s today--unheard of for February in Northern Utah! Right now I'm not complaining, but I may be this summer when there isn't enough snow melting in the mountains to fill our reservoirs and we are suffering a drought!

So on that happy note,
Until next time,
Janet O.

  1. Another Saturday Night and you are busy Blogging. Love all the quilty stuff you have up. I haven't even thought about decorating for V-day. I have nativities still up and around the Living room. Bad Mary...I just keep on a quilting. Have fun in the warmth, some years our February and March are worse than Dec and Jan.

  2. Oh Janet, you've given me some new ideas for little Valentine's Day quilts. I've been working on a couple today. It's so nice to have pink in the house when the days are grey. Can't say that we've had too many of them lately - even with the snow storms it's been bright and sunny right after and now just about every last flake will be gone by tomorrow with this warm weather. I have a collection of cranberry glass that I like to use with my little pink quilts. I just love your new wool projects. The lamb is so cute with his valentine and rug message. And, yes, I saw that red sheep fabric that you used ... that fabric was just begging to go into this quilt! Thanks again for more inspiration.

  3. I loove your little lamb quilt and will put it on myto do list, lol! We do not really celebrate Valentine's day here in Switzerland as in other countries like yours. But since I "live" in bloggerworld I started to add some little pieces in my house around Valentine's Day too. When it is not a commercial thing (as it is here) I love the idea of this day.

  6. Enjoyed your Valentiney quilts. I guess I can't say I have any so you are way ahead of me! I love pink and red together. The snowman ornament is adorable. It's been cold here though we do expect it to get up to the 60's today. Wish we had a good snow to go along with the cold temps.

  7. Love your blog Janet! I love your Lamb for all Seasons quilts, they are so cute! Thanks for sharing all the pink Valentiney quilts! Awesome quilting on your 9 patch on point! Here in Iowa we went from -22 degrees below zero one night early this week to 47 degrees above zero yesterday! Had 12 inches of snow last weekend! Crazy weather!

  18. We too are enjoying warmer winter weather in Oregon. Not good for the skiers or our water table. Hope this doesn't mean a hot summer. Love your Valentine version. I re-printed the pattern as I'm going to make a winter version for gifts this year.

  19. What you lack in quantity as far as Valentine's quilts, you certainly make up in quality! Gorgeous! Our weather here has been abnormally warm and dry. While I miss the snow for purely esthetic reasons, I'm sure you miss it for more practical reasons.

  20. Darling in pink!

I started decorating for Valentine's Day and realized I don't have much to decorate with. I finally just started looking for red or pink to put on a display on my hutch. It looks kind of weird (especially the pig doll in the 'red' dress) but it feels festive.
