Such cute little things...

... I just couldn't resist them! I was introduced to Pam Buda's Pocket Patchwork Orphans and Scraps Sew-Along on Gayle's blog. These little 4 1/2" blocks just grabbed me. I had to  sew every spare minute on Monday to make them. Pam hasn't posted the setting yet.  Aren't they sweet? The method for creating the on point 4-patch blocks is genius!

Then there is this baker's dozen of tiny pineapples (about 2"). My Mom's birthday is Saturday and you may recall that I am surprising her with these pineapples made into little tree ornaments (which I have yet to finish, obviously). Each one is made from some of the scraps she has given me as she has finished one of her quilts the past 10 years or so. I can't wait to see her face when she opens them.

Finally, in the cute and little department, is my version of Lori's Abundance doll quilt.

As all of this is coming together, I am also still plugging along on sewing the Barristers SAL blocks together and using Easy Street as leader/enders. There are so many projects on blogs that are calling to me. I need to focus and stop listening to those voices. : )

What voices are distracting you?
Janet O.

Just wanted to share this shot of the sun burning through
the hazy sky near the corkscrew willow in our yard recently.

  9. You're the queen of cute and adorable itty-bitties. The pineapple ornaments are GENIUS; your mother will adore those! Those pocket patchwork blocks are absolutely precious; and, by the way, your piecing is so perfect and precise. I have to block out the voices, I am too easily distracted and I know that, for me focusing requires blinders!! Have a great day, Janet.

  14. Such inspiring little blocks! I printed off Pam's courthouse steps. I've always wanted to do a mini version of this and, boy, is it mini! Let us know your mom's reaction to the pineapple ornaments. Such a great idea. I'm so tempted by Lori's quiltalong, but I have so many things in the queue. At least I feel good about meeting my quilt show deadlines. That's a beautiful photo of the corkscrew willow.

  21. Oh boy - what has distracted me are your adorable little blocks. Quilt blocks f that size are absolutely charming. But I must stay on task with a wedding quilt and finishing the grand cleanout of our basement. Way too many voices down there & they are not as happy as the ones in my sewing room.

  25. Lovely little pineapple blocks... lucky Mom! I've only gotten as far as printing Pam's blocks, and after seeing yours I'm itching to make them. And your Abundance block is still my favorite! The sun in your picture is pretty, but it's the corkscrew willow that caught my eye... reminds me of growing up and helping my Dad plant several of those trees in our yard.

  26. Nice Itty Bitty Blocks! I'm resisting all the BOM's that keep coming at me this month. Can't start anything new, but I'm hoping Pink will be in the next project. QM even tempted me with a new 4 part Bonnie Hunter Mystery. Yes, You tempted me to make the Abundance Quilt too... Have fun and don't forget to take a picture when your Mom opens the special Gift.

Glad I was able to have a small influence in getting you to sew the Pam Buda blocks - we'll have to bring our finished projects to show when we take her class next year. And finally, your little Abundance quilt turned out darling - I can't wait for Lori's linky party to see all the different versions side by side!

  37. What voice is distracting me? Yours! LOL Honestly, I keep getting sidetracked by things I see on your blog - those cute little 4 inchers, for example.

Your itsy-bitsy pineapples are sure to be a hit with your mom; they are mind-boggling.

  41. i must apologize for taking so long to get around to see your 'Abundance' quilt. however, i am healing well and it feels good to be on the mend.
i think your little quilt turned out wonderfully and your fabric choices are lovely.
mine is currently in the hand quilting stage . . . i'm not fast but i am enjoying it.

love the idea of a quilt-along using small blocks. i have so many small 'leftovers' blocks and seeing this has gotten me to thinking about what i might be able to do with them . . .

i've enjoyed my visit to your blog and hope to come back soon.
