The tiny 9-patch is finished.
At first I thought about doing some hand quilting on it, but when you have this much congestion on the back, that is kind of difficult.
I didn't press any seams open because I knew I wanted to do some Stitch-in-the-Ditch.
Just quilted some straight lines and simple loops in the border.
Here is a perspective shot. It is about 7" x 8", with 3/4" finished nine patches.
I finally finished messing with the trees in Sasquatch's forest.
Thursday he went to the machine quilters. I won't be pushing any large quilts around under Gidget's needle for a while, yet, and I wanted this to get finished and to my oldest daughter's family.
I pieced the back from chunks of blue and green flannels. I am having the machine quilter attach the binding, too, and then my Mom has offered to sew it down by hand.
My shoulder is being scoped this morning. Not sure how soon I will be back to blogging and quilting, but I will be quilting vicariously through the adventures of my blog friends! I'll be back as soon as I can.
In the meantime, enjoy this recent view from my sewing room window. Love those clouds.
Until next time,
Janet O.
Good to see yourfinished Mini. I hope the shoulder scope helps the Drs to know what is needed. Sasquach looks great. Your daughters family will love it.
ReplyDeletePrecioso el mini de este mes. Me encanta. Los árboles van avanzando. Un beso

ReplyDeleteGreat mini. I love Sasquatch. Hoping all goes well with your shoulder. I've been fighting shoulder pain for years. Hugs
ReplyDeleteGorgeous mountain view!! In just 105 days I’ll be back to “my” mountains- not that I’m counting (really, there’s an app to do it for me. Lol). I wouldn’t hand quilt through all those layers either. I did chuckle on the “large” label until the rotary cutter showed the true scale of your project. Good luck with your shoulder procedure today!!
ReplyDeleteYour view is amazing... such a beautiful work of God! Those tiny little squares in your mini may not even be the size of the red screw on your rotary cutter!! wow!! It's gorgeous! I can't wait to see Sasquatch finished in all his glory. I hope your shoulder feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the cute mini!!! OMG did I miss something? Wishing your shoulder heals fast and well. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the scope! I hope you are good as new very soon!!

Will be cheering you on for a quick return after the shoulder work...my husband knows all about that kind of stuff.
ReplyDeleteYour March mini is just the dearest thing ever (makes mine look like a queen size quilt in comparison!) When you posted the image of the rotary cutter next to it - well - over the top piecing!!! Sasquatch turned out great and with a flannel backing how cozy he will be amongst the evergreens. Easter Blessings, Janet and take care of yourself.
Sweet little nine patch. Congrats on a near finish on Skatch.
ReplyDeleteTake great care on your shoulder and arm!
I do hope that the scoping procedure brings you the pain relief and healing you need. Your latest mini is simply too sweet for words. I'm also looking forward to seeing Sasquatch all quilted, it's going to be so cozy with the flannel back. Easter blessings to you and your family, and prayers for a quick recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh I look forward to seeing what your quilter does with Sasquatch! I love that quilt :-) I am making 3" nine patch blocks as a leader & ender project and of course I think of you, I feel like I'm making a Mini too! But then here is another one of your glorious mini creations and mine look positively humongous! Kiwi hugs xxxx......best wishes for your shoulder behaving.

ReplyDeleteLove the mini and Sasquatch!! Hope the scope shows what's going on with your shoulder. Praying you will be back blogging soon!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your scope went well, Janet. I looked online to see what the procedure entailed and it sounds less invasive than regular surgery but not necessarily easier. I hope it did everything that will make your shoulder as good as new. Your tiny quilt is amazing and your Sasquatch looks fabulous. I like the change in length of the tree trunks. Happy Easter to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a view! I can almost smell the fresh air!!! :-)

Gorgeous photos of your view. It is just amazing and the lighting is beautiful.

I am sending all my positive vibrations for a happy outcome on your shoulder scope! We can't have you away from those mini quilts for long. You are our inspiration! Take care!
ReplyDeleteThat little nine patch is one of my faves that you've done...love the background and border fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteSo, I've been scrolling through your blog post mostly looking at the pictures because I can't stand here too terribly long before my back gives out (I can't sit without pain either)....anyway...you are igniting a fire that I need to sew with all these adorable mini quilts!! I forgot just how much you love the little ones and how much patience you must have!!!
ReplyDeleteIs there a pattern for the 9 patch mini quilt?
ReplyDeleteSorry, no pattern. I just made 9-patches that finished at 1 1/2" and played around until I found a setting I liked. So the setting squares also finish at 1 1/2". Maybe those measurements will help. I don't have the quilt anymore, so I can't really measure anything else for you.
