One Down--Three to Go!

I'm talking about the border made of itsy bitsy HSTs on this feathered star. They finish at 1/4"! I couldn't bring myself to make another one yet. That is labor intensive! But I am happy with how this is turning out.
The star block in the center finishes at 4 & 1/4"!
While I had the pink repro scraps out for the feathered star, I decided to dig out more Spring-like colors to try the Wandering Geese pattern. I will make one more strip of geese and try to squeeze out enough of that blue to border the whole thing.
I pinned up the 2 1/2" square ruler again to give you a frame of reference for the size of this. The geese finish at 1/2"x1".

While I had the happy colored scraps out, I made a couple of pineapples (2" finished) that will be turned into ornaments to hang from my Shaker peg rack for Spring decor.

Now, what you have all been waiting for--the baby lambs!
This is the view from my sewing room window lately. See that llama sitting sedately among the ewes and their babies? It is their protector and defender, chasing away stray dogs, and any other predators that may happen along. But it is something more than that. It is the babysitter (which apparently means "something that sits while babies climb on it). : )
I stood at my sewing room window taking pictures and laughing at the antics of the lambs playing "King of the Hill" (or llama) for about 15 minutes the other day, before the llama decided that was enough, and stood up.
So cute! Even a little nuzzling amidst the play. : )

I realized my last post was my 200th. I should have had a giveaway, I guess, but next month I hit my 3 year blogiversary, so I will wait for that milestone. Stay tuned.
Until next time,
Janet O.

  3. What pretty quilt pieces you are working on! That feathered star is very cute! My friend is doing P rim Gatherings "Words To Live By" ans as she cut away the extra fabric from behind, she saved the scraps and sewed them together. Her mom pressed them and she is challenging her friends to make something with those half square triangles that ate about an inch. Each girl in her small group recved about 175 pieces to work with! I can't wait to see what they come up with! You would fit right in! Those babies are giving that Lama a massage! Cute cute!

  11. OMG! If those babies with the Llama "babysitter" are not the cutest things, I don't know what is!!!!! Who would have thought a llama would let those babies crawl all over her? Amazing!

And talk about "Amazing"? Girl, that Feathered Star is nothing short of Super-Amazing!!!!! Fabulous! And such perfect work too - those teensy-tiny points are all very much intact :) Brava!!!!

  12. You know how much I love seeing progress on your minis. Those pineapple blocks would make a VERY impressive quilt if made in mass quantities--if you didn't have anything else to do. So labor intensive, but what a great way to use mini strips.
I'm wondering if you'd consider renting out some space in your sewing room. I'd pay dearly to look out on such a bucolic, restful, fun-packed scene. What's not to love about beautiful scenery and adorable animals--while quilting.

  34. Is it common to have a llama babysitter? We have both llamas and sheep around here but I'm not sure they are ever pastured together. Sound slike a good idea tho!

Your tiny HST are stunning - don't think I've ever seen any so tiny but they compliment the feathered star perfectly. Love the wondering geese too - I do need to learn how to make them. Did you paper piece them?
