The tiny 9-patch is finished.
At first I thought about doing some hand quilting on it, but when you have this much congestion on the back, that is kind of difficult.
I didn't press any seams open because I knew I wanted to do some Stitch-in-the-Ditch.
Just quilted some straight lines and simple loops in the border.
Here is a perspective shot. It is about 7" x 8", with 3/4" finished nine patches.
I finally finished messing with the trees in Sasquatch's forest.
I pieced the back from chunks of blue and green flannels. I am having the machine quilter attach the binding, too, and then my Mom has offered to sew it down by hand.My shoulder is being scoped this morning. Not sure how soon I will be back to blogging and quilting, but I will be quilting vicariously through the adventures of my blog friends! I'll be back as soon as I can.
In the meantime, enjoy this recent view from my sewing room window. Love those clouds.

Good to see yourfinished Mini. I hope the shoulder scope helps the Drs to know what is needed. Sasquach looks great. Your daughters family will love it.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous mountain view!! In just 105 days I’ll be back to “my” mountains- not that I’m counting (really, there’s an app to do it for me. Lol). I wouldn’t hand quilt through all those layers either. I did chuckle on the “large” label until the rotary cutter showed the true scale of your project. Good luck with your shoulder procedure today!!

ReplyDeleteYour March mini is just the dearest thing ever (makes mine look like a queen size quilt in comparison!) When you posted the image of the rotary cutter next to it - well - over the top piecing!!! Sasquatch turned out great and with a flannel backing how cozy he will be amongst the evergreens. I do hope that the scoping procedure brings you the pain relief and healing you need. Your latest mini is simply too sweet for words. ReplyDeleteI hope your scope went well, Janet. I looked online to see what the procedure entailed and it sounds less invasive than regular surgery but not necessarily easier. I hope it did everything that will make your shoulder as good as new. Your tiny quilt is amazing and your Sasquatch looks fabulous. I like the change in length of the tree trunks. ReplyDeleteSo, I've been scrolling through your blog post mostly looking at the pictures because I can't stand here too terribly long before my back gives out (I can't sit without pain either)....anyway...you are igniting a fire that I need to sew with all these adorable mini quilts!! I forgot just how much you love the little ones and how much patience you must have!!!

ReplyDeleteSorry, no pattern. I just made 9-patches that finished at 1 1/2" and played around until I found a setting I liked. So the setting squares also finish at 1 1/2". Maybe those measurements will help. I don't have the quilt anymore, so I can't really measure anything else for you.
