I was hoping to have some stitching to share this post, but it wasn't to be. I had these bonus triangles all trimmed and ready to stitch over a week ago and thought I would at least have sewn the pinwheels by now, but my machine has been silent.
Then there are the strips that I cut in order to make miniature versions of Kevin's trees, but I was trying to make them 2/3 the size of Kevin's and the math got to be too much for me. :)
Take a look at the beautiful bundle of fabrics that arrived from Vic! I have been spoiled rotten--kind of fun! : )
This should inspire many new little creations!!
Well, that concludes the "quilty" content of this post. So just enjoy the lights. Welcome to my home, for the holidays!
The front door...........
The solarium................
....the living room
...and the dining room, into the kitchen. Can you tell I love Christmas lights?
Also, congrats to Midge E., who won the giveaway in my last post.
Until next time, when I may actually have stitched something,
Janet O.

Beautiful , thank you for sharing your home with us this year, too. I can actually see all the work you have been busy with. Those lights are spectacular and take lots of time. I barely got a small tree decorated this year.
ReplyDeleteYou got a great stack of fabrics.....lots of creating to come. And the pinwheels are great.....will be cute when they get done in the future.
Kevin's trees are fun to see.....try 1 inch squares to end up 2/3's his size :0
Love all of your pretty lights and decorations. And I really love those pinwheels - great fabric, and the print with the words....I need that! Word fabrics and stripes always get my attention, and this one qualifies as both.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! What a beautiful sight! I don't think there are that many lights in my whole town! I have to let the "pot Luck" quilt rest a while and get busy decorating. You are as always, an inspiration! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWill be waiting by my front door for your arrival - come on in...I need a lot of creative help decorating!! Your house looks so ready for Christmas! As many wonderful projects you have completed, don't worry about a quiet machine right now...too many other demands this time of year.
ReplyDeleteYep, 1 inch squares will work. It doesn't really matter what length the neutral strips are because you can just trim them when the block is done. I'm going to make one, they are cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, well, sometimes sewing just does not happen!! I am finding lots of that these days!! :-( Your home looks wonderful!! We are going to drive by tonight on our way home from seeing the lights on Temple Square!! Congratulations to Midge on her wonderful win!! Lucky Ducky!! :-))
ReplyDeleteI LOVE seeing the lights up in your house. Thanks for showing us a peek. I would have more up if I could figure out how to plug them all in. Sewing has to wait sometimes. Ask me how I know?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all your lights. I do leave one of mine up year round - I didn't have under-counter lights in the kitchen so I have a string there. It's just enough sparkle to be pretty and allow me to grab a snack or whatever without turning on all the fluorescent lights. I love that you can hang them from the balcony too! Oh and I can understand why the math might slow down a project...
ReplyDeleteooh another lucky recipient of vic's generosity! and your home looks lovely, and i'm not one bit surprised...
ReplyDeletegreat lights! Plenty of time for stitching after Christmas, parties, presents and food all finished.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! And I like what you're doing with those FQ's that I'd sent to you!
ReplyDeleteThe pinwheels are lovely even if they aren't yet sewn.
It was fun looking at the fabrics in your pinwheels and recognizing many of them from my own stash. Your home looks wonderful. You can never have too many sparkly lights. Maybe just draw your own trees on graph paper and go from there.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so beautiful and inviting for Christmas -- it's joyful! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe your quilting mojo is on Christmas holiday--or exhausted from all the decorating. Your home is beautiful
ReplyDeleteHello Janet! As long as you have quilting on your brain, you are still alive and well. :) I love your new fabrics and can't wait to see what you will do with them. Your home is beautiful and I can see why you haven't been quilting... you've been busy stringing lights!!! Merry Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteEven when you're not sewing, you're super productive!!! I love your holiday decorations. They looks fabulous! So warm and cozy! And festive!
ReplyDeleteSo what did you decide on the strips? That's the quilt you're NOT doing, right?
What are you doing with the pin wheels? I have a bunch of hsts I'm trying to do something with.
And, by the way, it's getting to be time for us to work out the details for our 2017 challenge!!! Start thinking!

Hi there Janet.....I know why you haven't been at your machine.......you have been Christmas decorating.....it looks so magical!
ReplyDeleteI like that Christmas fabric with the words on it. It has the Kansas Troubles colors on it. Do you know who the fabric was designed by?
ReplyDeleteYou are decorated for the holidays and oh so pretty. I haven't put even one holiday looking quilt out.
Beautiful Christmas lights! No wonder you have less time for stitching... but, that's ok.... Christmas comes but once a year... so take the time to enjoy it! :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas lights! That little project will wait until you've had time to catch your breath from all the decorating and just enjoy the fruits of your labor. Not much stitching going on here either, unfortunately. But we did buy a Christmas tree yesterday, so that's a start on the decorating, or will be when the snow melts off the branches and it dries a bit so we can bring it inside!
ReplyDeleteFa la la lala....I love seeing your house! it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNot a whole lotta stitching going on here either! I'm hoping to get my mom and baby quilt basted today.
I always enjoy seeing your home decorated for Christmas! It is so warm and inviting - one can imagine the hot cocoa simmering on the stove :*)
ReplyDeleteI've done very little stitching this week too - this time of year is just too busy for it I think. Hoping to get my Clue 3 four-patches done for En Provence today though!
Your lights are glorious! I am inspired for next year!!!
ReplyDeleteYour place looks very festive Janet! I have one sad tree this year, and a lighted star above the front door. But NEXT year I'm hoping to do up the whole house like I used to - will be watching for BIG trees on clearance after Christmas since we'll need one with the taller ceilings. Thanks for sharing all your pictures - they all turned out well in such difficult lighting situations!
ReplyDeleteThe light show is beautiful! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHad to giggle about the math challenge :)
Your lights are gorgeous. I love the soaring spaces in your home. Beautiful decorations Janet! I love the lights in the dark months too.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy your header every time I visit.
I haven't sewn in 2 weeks myself
Holy Cow Janet!?!?!? What a beautifully lit home for Christmas! Your decorating is wonderful! Thanks for the shout out about the Christmas trees! I would just sew those neutral borders on with longer strips, and trim down to size. No math required that way! LOL
ReplyDeleteWow! How beautiful! Your house looks so pretty with all the Christmas lights!
ReplyDeleteI like Kevin's cute little trees! Those will be fun :)
ReplyDeleteGood job showing off your light decor!
Oh I love those lights!! It looks like there has been plenty to keep you busy - decorating - it's no wonder your machine has been quiet (resting)... Kevin's trees are cute, maybe they'll be a finish for next year :-)
ReplyDeleteToday I just stopped at your site to look at your header photo - I've checked it out frequently - too beautiful to forget. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year. elaineadairpieces.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteYour home looks so beautiful and peaceful. Enjoy every minute of the beauty of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWow, oh Wow, your house is beautiful, looks like it came out of "Beautiful Homes" magazine. No wonder your machine was resting, that took a long time to decorate. just awesome. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
