The 9-patches leftover from my December mini have been waiting to be used. I planned on making my March mini with them, and I had intended it to be a 2 color quilt, but a third color just slipped in.
I thought it made a very nice March companion quilt to the tinier one made by Barb. Linking up with Wendy, The Constant Quilter, for the Monthly Mini parade. Check it out!
Most of the quilting was simply done with my walking foot, but I did do a little hand stitching in the gold blocks.
My piece for Cecile's (Patchwork Inspirations) "Curves" SAL is complete. Covid Curves was very fun to make. I learned to do curved seams many years ago, but just made a few practice blocks and never applied the technique in an actual quilt. Now I have.
You can see the quilting better in this pre-binding shot. I kept the quilting simple, and I learned that I need a good set of circle quilting rulers.
There are 233 homespun apple cores. Ten of them are already machine stitched together in a row. They were given to me by another quilter, but I realize I probably won't get them stitched. I think it is enough to make a lap quilt, and if you like hand stitching, it would be a great project for stitching with some evening TV or movie watching.
There is a full kit for the Lori Smith Patchwork Sampler, and finally, a whole bunch of wool applique patterns (mostly from Buttermilk Basin). If you are interested in any of this, let me know in a comment--please specify which you are interested in, and if you never receive a reply to your comments here, you are a "no reply blogger". I need you to include your email in your comment or I cannot include you in the drawing. When I have closed the drawing I will post that here.

I love admiring your minis each month! I belong to a group that works on a doll quilt each month - so fun! Please include me in your drawing for the wool appliqué patterns. Buttermilk Basin is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your monthly mini's. I'm not one for hand piecing, but would love either the Lori Smith kit or the applique patterns.
ReplyDeleteI get my second shot tomorrow. I'm looking forward to visiting high risk friends.
love your curves project...i made a large quilt in that pattern eons ago....cute little minis of course...and the tiny blocks? adorable! i agree with how fun they are to make...my little churn dash blocks are like eating peanuts...just want more and more....nice giveaways for somebody!
ReplyDeleteI love that you used your leftovers for your mini quilt!! I am so glad people are getting vaccinated...yahoo! Throw my name in the pot, please!!!
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the 365 FPP blocks too, but so far have not caved in to the temptation to start them. I’ve got too many balls in the air at the moment, but very soon I will have plenty of time to play.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, if you could include me in the giveaway got the wool appliqué patterns I’d really appreciate it! sandiemackintosh@yahoo.com
I love your March quilts!! I admire your productivity. I love all your giveaway items, but I don’t need anything to add to my “hoard” lol. Some lucky person will be very happy with your goodies!
ReplyDeleteI think staying home and being so isolated has caused me to jump on all the bandwagons also. My Mother says I have enough stash to last two lifetimes and the last thing I need to be doing is making more purchases. Time to be productive.
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful projects! Grandchild hugs will be the best! Nice giveaway, but I have plenty in my queue already.
ReplyDeleteNice quilts. I too have started the 365 block project. Really enjoying it in 30's. I am interested in the sampler kit. Thanks Darlene dhoctor@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteIt's a great feeling to face a cleaned room to let other inspirations take over. Please put my name in the hat for the sampler kit and for the wool applique patterns. Shahann@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
The minis you and Barb made for this month are so perfect for March and St. Patrick's day. I really love your Curves SAL quilt, so fun, looks perfectly suited for a little bistro table and a pitcher of cold lemonade when summer returns. I've been trying to be good about not starting too many new projects this year, though the possibilities keep on swimming around in my head every time I see a new fun fabric. It's neverending with us quilters I guess! Have a blessed Easter, hopefully with at least some of your family.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am cleaning up and destashing the stash, big giveaway coming. Love your 3” blocks.
ReplyDeleteSweet, sweet mini, Janet, and so nicely quilted. Your Curves quilt looks great and so do your little 3" blocks. I thought about doing those but only for a split second :) So glad you'll get to see your grandchild soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, golly, your Little Blocks are delicious (why does this not surprise me?)!!!! I have yet to begin . . . .
ReplyDeleteYour March mini is lovely. It's so fun when something as simple as a 9-patch can be so eye catching. Nice job~ I'm glad you got your first shot. We are gathering for an Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteWow! I really like that cheddar with the green!! I always picture it in my mind with blues (navy) or reds (burgundy). The green is very refreshing! Your covid curves is not only darling, but what a great name! If the last year of covid hasn't thrown us all some curves, I don't know what has!! :) Your 3" blocks are precious! You always do such pretty piecing. I love the Buttermilk Basin wool minis!!! I adore playing with wool, so please consider those for me! Also ... working on the Nook this weekend, so hopefully I'll have some s p a c e to stitch in soon! (I do have a paid account, so we can play on mine!!) Hugs to you -- Happy Resurrection Sunday, my dear friend! :)
ReplyDeleteI love hand piecing and would really enjoy the Apple Core blocks.
ReplyDeleteI fully understand the compulsion to join all of these wonderful sew-alongs! What is more fun than fabric and friends together? :-)

I always love everything you create Janet but I especially adore your March Mini & it just looks stunning alongside your other mini in those colours. What a beautiful vignette that makes. Yes I use my sewing room as a "dumping ground" when folk come to stay too. I am pleased I'm not the only one. I love the apple cores you are working on but would not be accomplished enough to finish them but I would love to go in the draw for any of your Buttermilk Basin patterns please as I do enjoy wool applique. You may not want to post this far & I totally understand. Have a blessed Easter Janet - I am hoping to tidy my sewing room & maybe make a rabbit just for myself (again!!!). xx
ReplyDeleteI love your monthly minis. I enjoy making small quilts too. I do enjoy me some wool and the Buttermilk Basin Patterns look awesome! Most of my wool, I get from thrifting wool garments. I have made a small apple core, but I machine pieced it....not my favorite pattern. I made one, so I don't need to make it again, right???? leshsheri@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteYou are in good company Janet. I also want to make/try every little thing that comes along. Lori Smith is a favorite designer of mine and have made a few of her appliqué designs. I would love to try one of her pieced patterns. The apple core might be a challenge but I'm up for it. Thanks for the giveaway! Carlynord75@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteYour Covid curves is beautiful and I love the name you selected for it. Just lovely. If I’m in for the draw than I’d love that bird tulip buttermilk. Very nice of you to share. Also where did you get that clip on display station for your minis? It’s lovely and a wonderful way to showcase your minis.
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous mini, Janet. The colors are wonderful for March or any month! Your Covid curved piece is lovely. Hope you'll be getting those hugs soon.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful mini and nice big sister to the tiny one Barb made. I really like that green! Your Covid Curves is gorgeous - great contrast, very dynamic and beautiful. Glad you got your first shot! Savor those hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love all your minis i would love to work on your Apple core pieces. Thank you aurora. Louaurora@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteAwe, what a sweet pairing of little quilts. They are perfect for March being green.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you about to get your second shot! I know you must be so looking forward to seeing your big family again.
Your DP circle project is wonderful and the black makes it so striking.
I think its great to jump in on sew alongs as we are still home and need connection.
Happy Blessed Easter
I think you deserve the title of "Most Marvelous Minimaker". Your mini this month is fabulous. I am so happy to see the hand and machine quilting mix. That is something I was so afraid to do and now that I have seen other do it with success, I am practicing it myself. Thanks for your inspiration!! So happy to hear you are doing Lori's swap this year. I always have fun and have received some wonderful quilts over the years. And, thank you mostly for your inspiration to clean out the sewing room. I definitely need a Spring sweep in mine! In fact, I have a full size Apple Core feedsack charm quilt in a box that is about 1/4 done. It's on the someday list!! Your little blocks are so sweet. I'm always amazed at how many batiks there are out there. Happy to hear you've had your first shot. Surely hope things will begin to settle soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat March mini - I love that combo of green and cheddar! Your Covid Curves is great, too. The cheery colors give a sense of optimism against the dark background - perfect metaphor for the past year!
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to seeing your beautiful quilts -- The curves quilt turned out perfect! Love the March mini -- isn't it fun to make something out of left-overs?!! I will enjoy watching the progress on those 3 inch blocks! So glad you are done with step 1 of the vaccine! Please put me in the drawing for the Lori Smith patchwork sampler!!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Easter!
Love your covid curves quilt! The quilting is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove your 2 minis! 3" blocks??! Adorable!
Love your mini—looks so sweet in that vignette with the flying geese quilt! Doesn’t it feel good to get that vaccine!?! We’ve been immunized since mid-February and are so grateful.
ReplyDeleteYour monthly minis are adorable. Would like to make each one you post! I would love to win Lori Smith Patchwork Sampler. Thanks so much for offering. Got my 2nd vaccine shot this past week~ I'll still wear a mask, but it is such a load off my mind and yes, I can hug those grandsons!!
ReplyDeletemceddins@earthlink.net
I’ve always wanted to make an apple core quilt so would be very grateful to win those pre-cut pieces! Your minis are wonderful. I need to get back to making more of my own. It’s been a while. Thanks for this opportunity.

I love your little 9 patch mini!
ReplyDeleteWe have switched it up this year with you being the joiner, and me having a tiny bit of resolve to say no to somethings.
I love your mini blocks... don't make me regret saying 'no'!
Great news that you got a vaccine!
I love all the lovely projects you are drawing for, but living in Canada I cannot enter because the postage is simply ridiculous these days.
Janet, your March mini came out great. Even the back is amazing@
ReplyDeleteNICE job!!
So glad that you were able to get your first vaccine! WOOHOO. Hope you didn't have any reaction! Hugs are not too far away!!
xxxx
Randy

ReplyDeleteI happily submit my name into your drawing for the wool applique patterns. kwiltnkats@ymail.com
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity! Your minis are always an inspiration to me. So lucky am I to have your work adorning my sewing room and Christmas tree. I have both of my vaccines...yeah! My husband has had his first with the second to come on 21st. We are slowly getting back to normal, but don't anyone let your guard down for this nasty pandemic isn't over yet. Sandi
If I am not too late to the party, the apple core has been one on my bucket list. So if a home hasn’t been found for them count me in the mix. Hope your Easter was spent with family on some level. With two shots we are feeling better about being in an eating situation. Though masks were on other times. We will get through this, especially with the help of our quilting blogs. Sure appreciate everyone sharing a bit of uplifting conversation. DOTTI in CT.
ReplyDeleteHaving read before that you have a hard time doing 2-color quilts, it's easy to see why a third color slipped in on this mini. It's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAnd you've been busy. Your curves quilt looks great and those little 365 blocks are so bright and cheerful. Are those the ones that are paper-pieced?
Your are so generous with your giveaways, Janet. Someone--several someones--will have some fun with them.
I don't have a blog, but love to read yours! I too succumbed to the 365 six inch paper pieced blocks offered by Gay at Sentimental Stitches and have completed 8 or 9 so far. Your quilts are so beautiful and make for much inspiration! Thank you for sharing them with all of us. I would love to be entered in the drawing for the Lori Smith kit. Glenda
ReplyDeleteI think the pop of cheddar type yellow is an excellent choice to go with your greens. I generally am not drawn to a green quilt with just one additional color. Yours is much more appealing to me.
ReplyDeleteWhat Wendy said - most marvelous mini maker!
ReplyDeletePlease don’t include me in your generous drawing - skip me for others!
Congratulations on your vaccination.
Happy stitching!!
