| Small Quilt finish #44 for the year! |
Lori named her little quilt Harmony, and since I played fast and loose with the design, I call mine "Close Harmony". It finished at about 14 1/2 " square.
Here it is with the more recent (and as yet, not quilted) Quilters Madder.
I hand quilted this one. I don't do that very often anymore. Gidget gets jealous.
That is all the quilting I have to show for the past week, but I will share the last couple of "80 minutes a week" challenge projects I have completed recently. I made gluten free, vegan chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. Pretty good, if you haven't tasted a "real" chocolate chip pumpkin cookie for quite some time.
Next I baked up some gluten free crusty seed rolls. They aren't pretty, but they taste good. : )
Hopefully next time I will have some machine quilting finished that I can share.

ReplyDeleteSeems like we hear and read so much more in recent years about the need for a gluten free diet for some people. Do your baked goods have as many calories as their counterparts?

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea baking rolls in a muffin tin! Sweet little quilts, especially with hand quilting. Sometimes special projects deserve hand quilting, so glad you were able to on this one.

44 Mini Finishes! That is almost one per week, since the year isn't over. Gidget can get jealous. Some quilts demand to be hand done! Happy you have found some things to make that you can enjoy. Fun to have successful recipes.

ReplyDeleteLooking at your little harmony quilt I realized why I should press seams to one side instead of open: I could quilt close to one edge instead of a quarter-inch away. I like the look and I'll consider changing on my next quilt. It's a sweet quilt.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who has two children who need a gluten-free diet and two who don't. She packs their lunches. One of the non-GF children came home and commented how her sandwich stated really strange and suggested the mom had mixed up the bread. Mom was certain she hadn't. One of the GF children came home and complained about his sandwich and insisted that his mom had mixed up the bread. He said to her, "I don't know how you guys can stand to eat regular bread. It tastes awful." I guess it's all in what you get used to, huh? It's probably easier to give up gluten when a child than when an adult with so many years of eating and enjoying the flavor of foods with gluten.
Two sweet madder quilts. It's a wonderful color, perfect for fall. As well as, pumpkin cookies, which are one of my faves.

ReplyDeleteOh, I love the "Close Harmony" quilt. I am a sucker for medallion quilts and of course for hand quilting. The cookies and rolls look good, but then cooking is not one of my strong suits. Enjoy the day.

Long time since I have visted blogs and see that I missed ALOT! LOVE the two madder quilts....favorites of mine also......Very Nice border on the latest QAL from Lori.....been sitting on the fence about adding a border and now, after seeing yours, I think I just might!
