Short and sweet (well, short, at least)

I am trying really hard to whittle down the pile of little, unquilted tops in my sewing room.
This little quilt has been waiting a long time for completion.  It is from a SAL on the quiltsbycheri blog from way back in January of 2013. Cheri called it Simply Sweet. Mine is much darker than the original and I haven't yet thought of a name.

These two photos show more of the quilting from the front and the back. Love the texture.

Are you making "Tucker" from Pam Buda's recent SAL? Haven't sewn the outer round of blocks together, but I am pretty sure I will finish it that way.
As I shared a couple of posts back, I got the layout wrong on my first section, and was not in the mood to unpick. I waited for the reveal on Friday and then worked with the parts Pam used to come up with something that I felt worked with my design-challenged creation. It will probably finish at 12" square.

This beautiful bundle of Miniature Gatherings fabrics from Primitive Gatherings, and their fun little book of mini quilts recently came to live at my house. So I got out the Itty Bitty Eights rulers, polished them up, and now I am ready to tackle some new minis. But, alas, it will probably have to wait until after the holidays.  Have a few gifts to get stitched first!

That's all for now.
Until next time,
Janet O.

  9. Fabulous quilting on Simply Sweet, perfect detail for it! I love the direction your Tucker is headed in! I'm glad Pam's final reveal and the inspiration she worked from actually encourages everyone to take theirs in whatever direction we choose. Too often we forget that's always an option even when you start with a pattern or plan.

  14. Your quilting on the SAL is creative and lovely. Thanks for showing both the front and the back to help us see the designs well.
As our LQS owner always told us at classes, "mistakes" when we're quilting are just "design opportunities." Your Tucker is sweet as can be and one of a kind. That is definitely a large number of fabrics in a small space.

  15. Love your little quilt, such gorgeous quilting, thanks for showing the back. I think I am going to have to order that book for myself, its the second time I have seen it this morning on someone's blog, I am taking that as a sign it needs to also live at my house!!

  16. Well, you certainly put your own spin on Pam's quilt, huh? It's way cute! I love 4-patches as much as 9-patches, so your little SAL really got my attention. That new book looks like a good one, and the fabrics look DELISH!

  33. Oh my gosh yes! Your texture on your version of Simply Sweet is amazing!!!! You really took a very simple quilt design and gave it such movement - love it!!! And I know you are going to be showing us some wonderful tiny treasures with that fabric bundle in the new year - can't wait!!! I bought the square "eighths" ruler recently because you recommended it. I think I'd like to play with some tiny blocks in the coming year too :-)

  35. Seeing your dear mini's in the color palette you use always is like walking into a candy store! Don't you love those itty bitty rulers!! The extra markings really help to get an accurate finish on my little 9 patches which are huge compared to the scale you work with. When I grow up I want to try a mini like yours:-)
    Happy stitching!

  39. Maybe you could call your un-named quilt, "Dark Cherries", since it has blacks and reds prominently featured? It is beautiful!
