that I could actually get my chosen UFO at least to flimsy stage by the end of the month. Didn't happen. This is where things stand with my miniature Burgoyne Surrounded (based on a large quilt by Lisa Bongean, shown
HERE).
Ten out of twelve 4 1/4" blocks are completed (and it looks like they could all use a shave--haven't trimmed them yet). The cornerstones will be more little 3/4" 9-patches.
The last two blocks are waiting the completion of the tiny 9-patch blocks before they can be sewn together.
So this is the only finish I had for February--the Buttermilk Basin heart pillow from retreat last month. (The quilts on the rack are all my Mom's handiwork.)
At Miss Stacy's recommendation, I stuffed it with the Morning Glory Brand Premium Polyester Fiberfill. It makes for a firmer pillow.
I wish I could show you more, but I haven't done anything else. That's all, folks! : )

Those are very tiny blocks. Don't feel bad if you haven't gotten a bunch of Finishes. February was a short month. Hope you find a bit more time in March.

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty miniature Burgoyne quilt. I have never heard of this particular stuffing. I usually use wool fleece as I have so much of it left from my spinning days.

And I love the colors of your mini-in-progress. Our quilt show, for the first time this year, will have a category for minis! I'm so excited! :)

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished Burgoyne Surrounded mini. Your pillow turned out beautifully and it's colors work so well with those of your mom's quilts. I agree that we should be in on a "Mom's quilt show" post but I'm sure that so many of them must have been gifted and aren't available. :-(

ReplyDeleteYour Burgoyne Surrounded is gorgeous - just because things are small doesn't mean they are any quicker to make does it?! At least you are making progress on your older projects and it looks like it won't be long till you've done this top. The cushion is sweet - the scalloped outer is a nice touch.

The first thing I thought when reading this was I LOVE your mini Burgoyne! That block is a favorite of mine ... and in a miniature -- SWOON! My second thought was that I was glad that I'm not the only quilter whose blocks need a shave. Alas, mine grow hairy even after I've trimmed them ... as I'm piecing them into rows and then into a top. :-(
