Then there is this baker's dozen of tiny pineapples (about 2"). My Mom's birthday is Saturday and you may recall that I am surprising her with these pineapples made into little tree ornaments (which I have yet to finish, obviously). Each one is made from some of the scraps she has given me as she has finished one of her quilts the past 10 years or so. I can't wait to see her face when she opens them.
Finally, in the cute and little department, is my version of Lori's Abundance doll quilt.
As all of this is coming together, I am also still plugging along on sewing the Barristers SAL blocks together and using Easy Street as leader/enders. There are so many projects on blogs that are calling to me. I need to focus and stop listening to those voices. : )
What voices are distracting you?
Janet O.
Just wanted to share this shot of the sun burning through
the hazy sky near the corkscrew willow in our yard recently.
You have been busy. I loved the little blocks too.
ReplyDeleteCuteness blocks!!! Yes there are too many temptations out in bloggy land!
ReplyDeleteI haven't started my Abundance yet but hope to get to it today. I just love the way yours turned out, Janet.

ReplyDeleteYour mom will love those little blocks!! You are one amazing daughter, friend, wife, mother...!!
Be Joyful!!!
You're the queen of cute and adorable itty-bitties. The pineapple ornaments are GENIUS; your mother will adore those! Those pocket patchwork blocks are absolutely precious; and, by the way, your piecing is so perfect and precise. I have to block out the voices, I am too easily distracted and I know that, for me focusing requires blinders!! Have a great day, Janet.
ReplyDeleteI tell you...just seeing your post this morning with my coffee made me yearn to quilt and not have to pack even more! Each and every block delightful.
ReplyDeleteAll your tiny blocks are adorable. Your mom will love her ornaments - what a thoughtful gift! Your Abundance block is sweet too, I can't wait to see what everyone does with that one.
ReplyDeleteThat photo of the sun burning through the haze is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love all those tiny little blocks! I'm not sure that I could work with such small pieces so I admire those who can.
As always I love all of your work. I have been good and haven't started on any of the QAL in blogland. I did finish my Barrister's blocks yesterday - now to decide how to set them. I can't wait to hear your mom's reaction on the pineapples - such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteSuch inspiring little blocks! I printed off Pam's courthouse steps. I've always wanted to do a mini version of this and, boy, is it mini! Let us know your mom's reaction to the pineapple ornaments. Such a great idea. I'm so tempted by Lori's quiltalong, but I have so many things in the queue. At least I feel good about meeting my quilt show deadlines. That's a beautiful photo of the corkscrew willow.
ReplyDeleteI love your little quilt blocks. They are so adoreable. Hugs
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you do not disappoint. Love all your work.
ReplyDeleteGurrrrlll you are definitely on a roll and I am loving each and every tiny little block!!! :) The same voices that are distracting you are also calling to me---however, I have two furbabies and one big two-legged baby that also call my name continuously. LOL LOVE love love your photo of the sun/fog/'crooked' willow. I have a fledgling 'crooked' willow in my yard too that I adore. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Mom! So so cute! Love it all!
ReplyDeleteNice shot of the sun :)
I love all your projects! Don't fight the voices, it's hopeless! lol
ReplyDeleteI'm loving ALL of these little blocks! Sheesh! More voices! lol
ReplyDeleteOh boy - what has distracted me are your adorable little blocks. Quilt blocks f that size are absolutely charming. But I must stay on task with a wedding quilt and finishing the grand cleanout of our basement. Way too many voices down there & they are not as happy as the ones in my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteLooove the mini blocks!!
ReplyDeleteJanet, your little pineapple pin cushions are popping up on blogs I visit. Saw them on Bonnie Hunter's blog and Lisa Bonegan's. Ever so cute!!
ReplyDeleteSo "tiny" is your favorite M.O...and you are awfully good at it! Love these little masterpieces you're making! Curly willow is very spooky in all that mist and cold.
ReplyDelete....And I thought I liked small tiny pieces n things! I am most impressed with those miniature pineapples!!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get my clam shell finished don't cha know!!
Stop tempting me with such cute creations!!
Lovely little pineapple blocks... lucky Mom! I've only gotten as far as printing Pam's blocks, and after seeing yours I'm itching to make them. And your Abundance block is still my favorite! The sun in your picture is pretty, but it's the corkscrew willow that caught my eye... reminds me of growing up and helping my Dad plant several of those trees in our yard.
ReplyDeleteNice Itty Bitty Blocks! I'm resisting all the BOM's that keep coming at me this month. Can't start anything new, but I'm hoping Pink will be in the next project. QM even tempted me with a new 4 part Bonnie Hunter Mystery. Yes, You tempted me to make the Abundance Quilt too... Have fun and don't forget to take a picture when your Mom opens the special Gift.
ReplyDeleteYou win the distracting voice prize, Janet, Queen of Drop Everything and Sew This Cuteness Now!!!

Am saving all the instructions for the end of Feb when I can do them.
So cute.
AND what a beautiful tree!! Wow!
JANET! They're *wonderful*! Your mom will be *so* pleased!!!! They look really pretty on that tray, too. You don't want to know what voices are distracting me. LOL! Love the hazy sunlight pic -- what a misty morning! :)
ReplyDeleteLittle blocks always seem to grab my attention. Don't know what it is about them but they do. I agree that there is a lot on the blogs right now to get my attention. I am having to keep telling myself to focus and finish something before giving in to the distractions.
ReplyDeleteAs always - beautiful little blocks. I just found the Abundance quilt online and put it in my bucket list. I have never heard of a corkscrew willow but I like it!
ReplyDeleteLove the little blocks.
ReplyDeleteSo much out there calling us...I'll just have to wear ear plugs till I finish my Dresden quilt.
I have never heard of a corkscrew willow either.

ReplyDeleteHi Janet - I can't believe how different each of those pineapple blocks look - what a fun, fun gift this will be for your mom. Glad I was able to have a small influence in getting you to sew the Pam Buda blocks - we'll have to bring our finished projects to show when we take her class next year. And finally, your little Abundance quilt turned out darling - I can't wait for Lori's linky party to see all the different versions side by side!

No way you were going to resist them :*D And I wish I could see your mom's smile when she sees those pineapple ornaments - they are wonderful! i must apologize for taking so long to get around to see your 'Abundance' quilt. however, i am healing well and it feels good to be on the mend.
ReplyDeletei think your little quilt turned out wonderfully and your fabric choices are lovely.
mine is currently in the hand quilting stage . . . i'm not fast but i am enjoying it.
love the idea of a quilt-along using small blocks. i have so many small 'leftovers' blocks and seeing this has gotten me to thinking about what i might be able to do with them . . .
i've enjoyed my visit to your blog and hope to come back soon.
