There are so many people doing the Free Motion Quilting Challenge that have made beautiful feathers, that I am hesitant to post my efforts. I think I am feather-challenged so I struggled with February's feather challenge, in spite of Diane's great tutorial. However, I'd love to have my chance to win prizes (LQSs don't carry Aurafil thread), so I am swallowing my pride. Here we go. I will admit that they look better in the photos than they do in real life!
Kind of hard to see the darker ones. I kept trying because I thought I would eventually get one I liked. I'll just keep trying. : )
Until next time,
Janet O.
Aren't you just so clever with your titles?
ReplyDeleteI think your feathers are fantastic!
As always Mom, when you try something new and put your heart into it, you always reach what the rest of us view as perfection.
don't be so hard on yourself, your feathers look good!
ReplyDeleteKathie
You have a flying chance birdie!
ReplyDeleteKeep going, remember the three P's......practice, practice, practice!
I think your "feather's" would fly on a quilt. 'TWEET' stitching. Remember the people who use the quilts are usually asleep and not the Quilt Police.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mary.... the only person who will study your feather is YOU! Everyone else will be admiring your work and creativity!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I love your feathers! Great job....
I think we are always hardest on ourselves. Your feathers look great and they will get better with practice! Most people don't really study each line of quilting, but they see the over all effect and it is impressive!
ReplyDeleteLooks good!!! I agree with all of the above - the overall effect is great! I'm getting inspired!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that you are on your way to great looking feathers. Like everyone always says practice, practice, practice.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Well your feathers look GREAT; especially compared to mine, which are non-existent. :)
ReplyDeletethey look great and after first try! mine didn't look that great the first time... just practice and practice. maybe take a small quilt and just do allover feathers, twist and turn and try variations, try doing the feathers from the top or from the bottom off of the spine part...
ReplyDeleteHey, even birds have ruffled feathers. Have you ever watched them preen to see how long it takes them to get their feathers just perfect? Keep going - you'll find the groove.
ReplyDeleteI think you're doing great. Keep trying! Think of how far you've come in the last few months - you will have these feathers smooth in no time!
ReplyDeleteThe feathers look better than the only time I tried. You will have it mastered in no time.
ReplyDeleteUnless you are planning on doing a white on white quilt your quilting will be just perfect!!
ReplyDeleteI love these feathers.....they look just like Diane's! You rocked it, girl! Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteThey're all terrific! It takes lots and lots of practice... don't be too hard on yourself, you're off and flying already, way ahead of the flock.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've figured out your new machine!! Are you enjoying it?? The feathers are GREAT!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are too hard on yourself. Feathers are hard especially this version. I expect you'd be pleasantly surprised if you tried a simpler one. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI think your feathers look great. Feathers are my favorite quilted pattern, I think. Also, you're welcome to stay in my purple carpeted guest room any time. . . The only thing that visits in the winter are the "dust bunnies".
ReplyDeleteYou are well on your way to free-form quilting! Good for you!!!
ReplyDeleteI found that doodling feathers on paper has improved my efforts with them. yours look fine from over here in Canada!
ReplyDeleteGood for you Janet - and kudos for putting your work 'out there' - you deserve a big cone of Aurofil.
ReplyDeleteKeep on stitching ;-)
Your feathers look great, and I commend you for sharing them with us. For every one person who might make feathers better than yours, there are dozens and dozens of us who could never achieve what you have. Remember that, you feather stitcher, you!
ReplyDeleteWell done, and keep practicing, and have fun.
Hi Janet. I think you are being too hard on yourself because your feathers look great!!
ReplyDeleteFrom someone who is too chicken to try feathers yours look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up.
I think your feathers are coming along nicely. Keep up the good work!
