Two more down,

...about 18 more to go. I'm talking about little quilts that have been waiting to be quilted.
The patriotic one is the little quilt I made by slicing up a large LeMoyne Star block made by Michelle C.
The leaf quilt was made with the trimmings I begged for received from fellow class members after a demo of Carmen Geddes' fusible piecing method.

Kept the quilting simple on these two.

The leaves got a hooked swirl and ditch stitching in the light border.

The stars were ditch stitched and then a paisley filled in the background. A simple looped border finished it off.

So now this pile of little basted quilts has become this pile of finished quilts--well, kind of. I had already gifted the snowman quilt, so I subbed the tumbler topper that I had made in the midst of the quilting frenzy. BTW, I have a bunch of those cut tumblers leftover. Anyone interested?

Now I have another pile basted and ready for quilting.
The pile includes a Temecula Summer Stars quilt, Pam Buda's Patchwork Pocket SAL, and the little r/w/b one at the bottom was a block gifted by Vic. It has taken me too long to get these quilted!

This is the state of my current little projects. Pinwheel Garden (blue and brown one) is receiving most of my attention, when I am not working on the ubiquitous T-shirt quilt. The other two projects are all cut, but haven't seen much action.

I'm not paper-piecing, as the pattern recommends, so it isn't perfect, but I am happy with it. The blocks are 4", as opposed to the 6" in the pattern. Everything seems to shrink in my hands. : )
Five out of twelve blocks made. I have all of the fabrics chosen and two more blocks are cut. The only rush on this project is my own anxiousness to see it completed.

Took this shot from the front deck as the setting sun was sending a golden glow to the mountaintops across the valley. This is NOT the view from my sewing room window--opposite sides of the house.

Until next time,
Janet O.

  5. Wow, your view must be panoramic! Just gorgeous and inspiration every day. Beautiful little finishes, and pinwheels are one of my favorites so it will be fun to see this one grow. Seeing those blocks in their incomplete stage and imagining the edge seam allowances really lends perspective on how very tiny they are! I'd be happy to take those tumblers off your hands.

  13. You are on a finishing frenzy--so many adorable little quilts completed! I love your Pinwheel Garden--my favorite colors, of course. That view is just spectacular--it would be hard to do any quilting if the sewing room were facing that way!

  14. Your Minis are so beautifully quilted.
The Sweet 16 has been a good investment for you. Newlt basted ones won't take long. If only I had 18 TBQ quilts.

  15. Wow, what progress and everything so mini! I made a mini tumbler several years ago and gave it away. I have been thinking about making another one. I could certainly use some tumblers already cut and ready to sew together.

  17. Your magnificent pile of mini's are always charming. No small amount of work for each sweet quilt in your awesome collection. As your to-do pile decreases I'm sure your mind is busily creating new designs and ideas.

  18. Your anxiousness to see the project completed is the best motivation ever. Whenever I feel that way I work as fast as I can before the enthusiasm wanes. You have some lovely finishes there. It must feel good to see them done - no longer waiting in the wings.

  21. You are amazing. I know they are small, but I think it is even harder (at least for me) to work on small quilts. They are all stunning. Thank you for sharing.

  22. Janet, when I grow up I want to live in your house! Just to have the joy of looking out your windows - Wow!!!! I saved this picture and made it my screensaver. My spirit just leaps when I look at it, and I am forcibly reminded that our God is the original Creator!

  23. Your tiny masterpieces deserve their own comment, separate from my gushing about your glorious views LOL!!! That pinwheel quilt is going to be simply AMAZING! I can't get my head around how tiny it must really be. And pinwheels are so darn fiddly where they meet in the middle ... Better you than me girlfriend LOL!!! Congratulations on all the wonderful finishes! Looking forward to seeing the new ones.

  25. Darling finishes! And good for you getting so many basted! I have to tell you that I have just agreed to make my first T-shirt quilt for my grand-niece. I think it will be the full bed size and that's all I know at this point. I just emailed my niece to tell her I would love (?!?!) to make it for her. Any pointers would be appreciated!

  30. Janet, what a fantastic view you have from your deck. I would not get much sewing done if that were outside my window. Your little minis are beautiful and I'm amazed at how many you have finished with 18 to go. You are one dedicated lady. I too have many quilts TBQ, but mine are a bit bigger! lol
