No Surprises Here

I'm still making minis. Imagine that. : )
The three pictured below are all at flimsy stage.
This photo is misleading. Those are oversized, decorative spools.
You may recall these houses that my friend, Annie Miksch, prepped for me as a travel project when I went to visit DD#1 last Fall. There are six more houses waiting to be stitched up. Maybe the last six won't look as wonky as these first six do. My hand stitching skills were very rusty! I already have plans for the rest of the house blocks, but I won't be trying to finish them up for the trunk show.
These houses finish at 2 3/4 inches.

This little medallion style quilt is centered around a leftover basket from an earlier quilt. The basket finished at 2 1/4 inches. The geese finish at 1/2"x1" and, yes, they are paper pieced.

Didn't you expect me to make a mini pineapple
quilt? These blocks are the same size as my little ornaments--2 inches finished. Haven't removed the papers from this yet, and I am not looking forward to that!

Next up is a tiny Feathered Star. The star block will be 4 1/4" finished. I haven't yet decided the setting for this. The pattern puts 4 of them on point, but I don't have time to do that.

I've got 5 mini flimsies that need quilting. I need to get finished with the piecing and move on to the quilting and binding very soon!

Spring is finally here, and as proof there are 19 baby lambs on the farm. Triplets were born Friday. Maybe I can get a photo of some of the cute babies tomorrow to share in my next post.
Until then,
Janet O.

  1. OH MY GOSH! These three little flimsies are absolutely wonderful. Very impressive.
But I have a question. What's wonky about your houses? I don't see anything wrong. If you're suggesting that maybe the walls of the houses aren't perfectly plumb, or maybe the window sashes aren't perfectly straight, then you need to forgive yourself and absolutely enjoy the cuteness of your little houses. No house inspections allowed. They're great, just as they are.

  15. Those are fabulous! I'm partial to the pineapples and that has inspired me on what I want to do with my WIP pineapple miniatures. I'd hoped to get some more of those blocks stitched up at the one-day retreat I was at yesterday, but the quilt top I wanted to piece took longer than I thought it would. Those pineapple blocks aren't going anywhere. ;-)

  19. The scale of your minis really hit when placed next to spools of thread! They are so fabulous and an example of true dedication and skill -
Your feathered star is going to be incredible!!!

  20. Triplet baby lambs??? Oh I would LOVE to see that - how sweet!!!!

Your minis never fail to mesmerize me! And you do such a lovely job with them. They are perfect!!! I am absolutely in awe of your attempt to do a feathered star - wow! Can't wait to see that one!!!

  21. Too funny, but the house quilt looks ginormous next to the other two - hard to imagine their actual size because the scale is done so perfectly. Brave lady to tackle the feathered star - that's one that I never want to do myself. You're going to machine quilt these, right? I sure hope the ladies appreciate all your efforts to prepare for the trunk show - you're really churning them out!
